Project R.I.C.E 2009
Undertaken by the youths from the Red Cross Humanitarian Network (RCHN) of the Singapore Red Cross Society (SRC), Project R.I.C.E 2009 made an official debut on 17 and 18 January 2009. The scale of the project was expanded to a nationwide initiative aimed at instilling the spirit of volunteerism amongst youths while reaching out to the needy in our communities. The theme for this Project R.I.C.E. 2009 - More than a Cup signifies that a simple cup of rice donated also holds love, sincerity and compassion when handed over to the beneficiaries. The target was to collect a total of 30,000kg over the two days before they are repacked for distribution to the beneficiaries in time for the upcoming Chinese New Year.
